1975 CHARLOTTE PATERA STITCHERY NUT TREE POSTER PRINT

This is a 1975 Nut Tree poster print featuring the exquisite stitchery artwork of Charlotte Patera.

Printed on heavier stock paper.

"Charlotte grew up in Springfield, Ohio. She worked at Wright-Patterson AFT. She attended Wittenberg College in Springfield as an art major and graduated from the Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1951. She worked in Detroit, Mich., Chicago, Ill., and San Francisco, Calif., as a graphic designer specializing in package design. She worked at Dickens, Inc. and Raymond Loewy in Chicago and at Walter Landor Associates in San Francisco. The latter studio occupied a restored ferryboat on San Francisco Bay.

In the middle 1960's, she added to her career becoming a needle craft and quilt designer. Her craft ideas for embroidery, applique and needlepoint were published in magazines such as Better Homes & Garden and Family Circle from 1968 to 1975. She designed embroidery kits for Paragon and Bucilla. She later became an author, Teacher, lecturer and an award winning exhibitor of art quilts. She had five books published on applique and became known for her study of the intricate mola applique work of the kuna Indians of Panama. She traveled to the San Blas Islands, staying with an Indian family to learn about thier lifestyle and techniques."

Sadly, she passed away in 2017

Poster print represented a series of exhibits of prints at the Nut Tree between September 17 and December 31, 1975. Looking closely, the original work was not a painting at all, but rather, pieces of yarn all sewn together to form a series of images and to create one incredible print. With it framed, poster would look great on anyone’s wall.

About The Nut Tree @ Vacaville CA

As part of the Nut Tree collection, this print along with all the Nut Tree posters and prints are no longer available anywhere. The Nut Tree, a huge icon today in name only, was a famous restaurant, memorabilia shopping center, and airport in Vacaville, California. The shopping center closed in January, 1996. It originally had its origin as early as 1860, and gave weary travelers welcome shade to those going back and forth to the hot Sacramento Valley. Now closed and with only the airport still in operation, these Nut Tree photo collections are very rare. At the bottom of each print, they designated each piece as part of the Nut Tree Collection.

This poster/print is over 43 years old. Print measures approximately 18 1/2 x 24. This poster has never been displayed nor has any pinholes or tape residue.

Poster will come to you rolled and delivered in a specially reinforced poster tube to protect against damage.

Thanks for looking.
