1977 STAN DANN WOODCARVINGS NUT TREE POSTER PRINT
Artist Stan Dann began his career with an advertising firm in San Francisco in the 1960s, where his painted bass-relief signage immediately turned heads. When Dann shifted his focus to fine art in the 1980s, his mixed-media sculptures - such as this work from 1988 - also found success and are now present in major collections such as the Crocker Art Museum, San Francisco, CA and The Hechinger Collection, Washington, DC. Visually, Dann's skillful manipulation of material makes viewers question medium and space, as his polychromed wood often suggests ceramic and the subtle three-dimensionality entices a closer look.
This is an early 1977 Nut Tree poster print featuring an interesting, although unusual, woodcarvings art of Stan Dann. This print was part of a large collection of other prints celebrated during an exhibit between May 19th and September 20, 1977.
About the Nut Tree in Vacaville, CA
As was part of the Nut Tree collection, this print along with all the Nut Tree posters and prints are no longer available anywhere. The Nut Tree, a huge icon today in name only, was a famous restaurant, memorabilia shopping center, and airport in Vacaville, California. The shopping center closed in January, 1996. It originally had its origin as early as 1860, and gave weary travelers welcome shade to those going back and forth to the hot Sacramento Valley. Now closed and with only the airport still in operation, these Nut Tree photo art collections are very rare. At the bottom of each print, they designated each piece as part of the Nut Tree Collection. This poster/print is over 41 years old.
